Join Our 30-Day Plastic Free Challenge!

Welcome to our favorite time of the year: Plastic Free July!

PFJ is about increasing our awareness of the impacts and implications of plastic pollution, but more importantly it’s about finding all sorts of solutions, big and small. As Anne-Marie (@zerowastechef) puts it, “We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly, we need millions of people doing it imperfectly.”

So, if it’s your very first PFJ challenge, thank you for joining! There’s no judgement here- we appreciate every effort and we’ll do our best to help you along the way.

Last year, we published a 31-day PFJ challenge with Madison from @zerowastecalifornia. It was an intense experience, and we learned a lot about our community and the plastic problems we’re facing.

This year, the situation has evolved; with the impacts of the climate crisis becoming increasingly apparent, the problem has only gotten more dire and the need to make enormous changes in our lives is pressing. The lifestyles we lead in Western countries are not sustainable, and we don’t acknowledge that the countries who have contributed the least to this problem are suffering first and worst.

So this year, we’re using Plastic Free July to discuss solutions to the plastic crisis and the climate crisis. For instance, buying a shampoo bar is a great choice to reduce single-use plastic. But if it’s shipped from the other side of the world, is it really worth it? The issues go hand-in-hand.

We at FillGood are not perfect either; we just want to give you the tools to start making more sustainable decisions, whether you’re buying a toothbrush or trying out meatless Monday.

Start this challenge tonight: learn WHY it’s so important to reduce single use plastics.

Join us at “The Plastic Crisis,” an exciting event hosted by the Hillside Club and the Ecology Center. Learn about the latest updates on plastic pollution around the world, from @StoryofStuff and the @Ecology.Center. The event is at 7PM, the address is 2286 Cedar Street at Arch, Berkeley.
